In my classroom I use a behavior color clip chart. The chart focuses on positive and negative behaviors. The colors are as follows:
Positive Behavior Negative Behavior
Pink-Outstanding Yellow– Warning
Blue- Showing Pride Orange– Teacher’s Choice
Green- Ready to Learn Red– Parent Contact
Positive Behavior:
Every day your student will start out on green. If they follow all the rules and do what they are asked to do they will remain there the entire day. The next level up is “Showing Pride” this means that good choices have been made and good character has been shown. The highest level that your child can receive is “Outstanding” this means that your child has gone above and beyond the expectations for the day.
All of these behaviors will result in a sticker on a sticker chart. At the end of 25 days they will be able to choose a reward from the reward box. If your child gets a pink (outstanding) color they will get to choose a reward that day as well as the sticker.
Negative Behavior:
Making poor choices (this includes not having planner filled out and signed by parents each night, returning Leveled Reader (Slicky book) to school with signed parent slip) will result in a Yellow (Warning) color change. Consequence for this color will be 3 minutes or 3 laps at recess. An Orange (Teachers Choice) color change will be given for continuing to make poor choices throughout the day. The consequence for this color change will be 5 minutes or 5 laps at recess. A Red (Parent Contact) color change will be given if the poor choices are continued to be made and your student will have to serve 10 minutes of recess reflecting on the choices they made during the day. They will write down the behaviors they demonstrated and a three copies will be made one copy will be filed, one will be given to Ms. Grey and Mr. Lamb and one will be sent home to the parents to sign and return
